Kirkus Review plus Win a Free Book! 8/11/2008
Peleg's Log! Kirkus Review plus Free Book Contest!
The exciting news in this installment of Peleg's Log is the wonderful new review from Kirkus!
In her review, Molly Simms begins by stating that "Saboe’s ambitious fiction…mixes ancient mysticism with science fiction…".
She then goes on to say that The Days of Peleg "gives timeless questions new scope and accessibility", "delve[s] into mysteries and events that have puzzled humanity for millennia", and is "an adventure comparable to Homer’s Odyssey"!
Her conclusion:
"A gripping, first-rate epic that challenges current dogma." (Read her full review here.)
A quick publishing note:
The Days of Peleg has just gone in for it's 4th printing which may mean a slight delay for those of you who have just ordered copies. Thanks again for all of your support and encouragment.
Win a FREE book!
The second part of this letter is the "Win a Free Book Contest!". This is not some easy, marketing gimmick, but an actual quiz based upon elements within The Days of Peleg. It consists of 10 questions, plus one "extra credit" (to make up for 1 incorrect answer). The first 2 people who return this with 10 correct answers will receive a free, autographed book (4th edition!). However, the answers to these questions are NOT found in the text of the book. They either must be inferred from the context, or relate to modern equivalents. (Page numbers are given where appropriate.) Some of them may have more than one correct answer, but (as you may guess) the final determination resides with me.
Enjoy!

Extra Credit:
The opening disclaimer states that "Any similarities with actual persons, living or dead, are purely coincidental (with one obvious exception)." Question: Which character in the book is the "one obvious exception", and what living person is this character based upon?
Please enjoy this pop quiz, and be sure and get your responses to me as soon as possible. Winners will be announced in the next issue of Peleg's Log.
Again, thanks so much for all of your support, encouragement and wonderful feedback. I pray that The Days of Peleg will continue to inspire and challenge your friends and family!
Sincerely,
Jon Saboe
